The automotive industry in Germany is getting competition: Google is working on production-ready autonomous driving with its spin-off Waymo, some Chinese manufacturers such as BYD are on the verge of entering the European market, and in Munich the start-up Sono Motors is working on an efficient electric car with a European supply chain. The paper deals with the diffusion of these innovations into the large automotive groups.
