The article describes the approach and results of the research project CARE (Computer Aided Resource Efficiency Accounting). The project developed an information system for companies to integrate financial accounting and environmental impact assessment. The implementation in companies was realized by creating a software tool that use data based on material flows from the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, combining it with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data.
