Independent Review of the VW-Sustainability Report 2005
The Borderstep Institute for Innovation and Sustainability has been commissioned by the Volkswagen AG, Wolfsburg, to perform an independent review regarding the VW-sustainability report 2005. The review focussed on an evaluation of completeness, strength, weaknesses and consistency with the Volkswagen model of sustainable development of the report. All relevant information referred to on the report have been included.
The basis for our examination was provided by the Sustainability Reporting Guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (2002), the draft Automotive Supplement thereto (2003), the criteria for the appraisal of sustainability reports of IÖW(Institute for Ecological Economy Research) and future e.V. (2005) and the associated industry requirements relating to automobile manufacturers. The consistency examination considered to what extent the contents of the report and the concrete targets set and measures planned correspond to the Volkswagen AG Model of Sustainable Development. Further details on the course of the examination are available at www.volkswagen-sustainability.com.
